Pentagastrin

Pentagastrin is a synthetic polypeptide that stimulates gastric acid secretion on the gastrointestinal tract in a cholinergic signaling-dependent manner. Pentagastrin inhibits motilin-induced contractions in the stomach in animal models. Pentagastrin also enhances gastric defense by increasing mucus gel thickness, mucosal blood flow, and pHi.
